Not worth it at all

To be honest with you, if you were paying $500/month for these apartments, they wouldn't be so bad, but the fact that the rent is the highest out of any other apartment complex in Norfolk makes it the worst shit hole in the area. Yes, the grounds are very well-maintained. As soon as you enter the door to one of the buildings, you will see that all of the energy and money is put into landscaping. I don't know about the other buildings in the complex, but ours is bad. Neither of the outside doors close, and on top of that, the smokers in the building prop the doors open so the buildings constantly either reak of smoke or the nasty ?cherry? scented air freshener the cleaning lady sprays. The dryer has been broken for at least a year, and every attempt to get it fixed has fallen by the wayside. I even flagged down the maintenance guys and asked them to fix it, and they told me I had to call the office. When I told them that I had, they told me to do it again. It's a never-ending cycle. The walls and floors are paper thin, so everything that goes on is able to be heard, and there's a lot that goes on. There are people fighting, having parties almost every weekend, and I swear there's an elephant that lives above me. There is one apartment in my building that leaves dirty diapers all around the building. When they put them in the trash can, there was a note left by the cleaning ladies that said there would be a $10 charge if another one was left, so then, instead of leaving them in there, they left them right in front of the door, stinking up the whole building. It's repulsive, really. Their idea of a "gate", which is actually just a 2x4, is always broken. Their little sign saying "please turn your music down" is a complete joke. Cars roll through here constantly blaring their bass. I've heard gunshots in the complex on a regular basis. People hang out in the parking lots drinking and blasting their music. When I "locked myself out" of my apartment, it was extremely easy to get back in, so just make sure you lock your deadbolt when you're there AND when you're gone. I don't feel safe here at all. The appliances are very outdated, but mine still work okay. The kitchens are small, but not as small as others I have seen in the area. The carpet is nasty, there are weird bugs, I've had a mouse problem, but that's gone away. The tile is put down very poorly, and is coming up in many places. I've heard of a lot of leaks, and I've had a problem with a leak myself. The outlets suck, and don't hold plugs. Some of them don't work at all. They say no pets, but I've seen a lot of pets in the complex, which means that if you think that you'll get a place without that cat smell, think again. They don't enforce that at all. Overall, this place is not at all worth the money that they want you to pay. There are a lot of facades, please don't fall for them. |
