Like the projects grew up in a rich neighborhood
Review Date: 1/13/2008 Reviewer: Anonymous
825 Westover ave is a dark red-brown building set between Colley Ave and Hampton Blvd; closest to Hampton. It's crud covered, red brick facade stands out like a sore thumb among the classic mid-century town houses that line the tree-lined strip; it's like the projects grew up in a rich neighborhood. I knew at first glance that this place was going to be cheap. As it turns out the cheap rent really isn't worth all of the sacrifices I've had to make over the past year and a half. He's a short list: - The ceilings grow mushrooms. The tenant accross the hall showed me one that she had left up. - The parking sucks. - The rickety chain "fence" is tacky and falling apart. - The radiator heat is sporadic and seems to have a mind of it's own: it clanks like someone is banging on it with hammer sometimes all night long. it get so hot that you can't touch it and it's 70 degrees outside. it is often off for days when the temperature is 40 degrees. We have no control over it. - The laundry room is bad: constantly filthy. only 1 of the 3 dryers works good. - The outdated kitchen has very little counter/cabinet/drawer space:no dishwasher or garbage disposal. - The bathtub has been plugged up for weeks; we've called on this problem 6 or more times and still haven't seen ay action. -There is no smoke detector in the kitchen. - No window treatment's privided. |
