Apartment Review for Pinewood Garden Apartments - Norfolk, VA

In the beginning the apartment staff was nice and courtious. They made it seem like were going to not only be you landlords but also your friend. As soon as I signed my lease their attitude toward me and my family changed. The apartment appeared to look nice at first look but upon moving in we soon realized that it was roach infested. The exterminator had to be called out 4 times and I had to spend my own money on chemicals to help with the infestation. It took a total of 2 months to get rid of the roaches. During all of this my car was broken into 4 times. When I approached the staff about the ongoing problem they didn't care that such a crime was going on on their property. My car was also towed at my expense because they claimed that my decal sticker wasn't visible, when actually it was in the same place as every other car in the lot. It was clearly the staffs fault but again they did not care and I paid for it. My original neighbors were great people but unfortunately the moved due to them getting tired of the apt. complex. The new neighbors partied at all hours and smelled up the hall with their marijuana. Once again I addressed the staff with the issue and again nothing was done. The maint. was horrible. The maint. staff would walk in with not so much as a knock. I was walking out of my bathroom naked after my shower and in walked a maint. person. After moving out I requested to be present during the final walk through. The staff told me that I would be notified and I was not. They did the walk through and said that my carpet smelled as if we had a pet and ripped the carpet up. I am allergic to pet hair and my wife is the cleaned person I have ever met. She cleans my house obessesively. Before I could complain about the issue the old carpet was already replaced. Instead of getting my security deposit back I had to pay an additonal $447 dollars. Thankfully I am finished dealing with the complex. My family and I love our current apt complex and have had no issues to the such. I would not reccomend this place to anyone.
