Apartment Review
"You get what you pay for"
Review Date: 6/28/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
I have lived @ Riverpoint for about 5 years. I have been looking at other places for a change of scenery (and I want a dishwasher) but I cannot find anywhere that is worth the money. Riverpoint is a perfect example of "you get what you pay for". The rent for the amount of space, ok neighborhood, and location is something I cannot find anywhere else. The area is relatively quiet compared to most in Norfolk because it is pretty much hidden behind Depaul Hosptial and surrounded by churches and uppermiddle class houses. There are a few bad apples that have planted themselves here and there but that happens everywhere and I have noticed they usually don't stay long. The managment takes care of them I think. The only other annoyance is the kids that live out here are pretty wild (but that is because of absente parenting). These places are old and have the problems of any old buildings. Cracks from the buildings settling, Leaks from old plumbling, and Plaster Repairs from old walls and ceilings. Maintenance is not perfect but the are realistic and i honestly think they do their best to keep the place running. Sure the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors walking around, up and down stairs, playing music and getting it on at night but you get used to it. Just remember they can hear you too. There are also new things like Centeral Air/Heat, electric stoves, kitchen and bathroom cabinets, kitchen and bathroom floors, and front doors. Personally the hardwood floors are my favorite thing about the apts. cause they are nice and easy to clean and you don't have to worry about stains or pets from old tenants. Everything in the apartments is electric from hot water to stove and heat/air...and you don't have to pay water like I have noticed is a trend at most complexes recently. Are there nicer places out there? "Yes" but they are definately gonna cost you a few hundred dollars more a month...
