Apartment Review for Sewells Park Apartments - Norfolk, VA

$600/month all bills paid-in norfolk thats cheap. but you get what you pay for... plumbing: plumbing is awful. take a shower and watch the tub fill up. time it takes to drain? 15 min. toilets clog...often. hot water? eh, sometimes. air conditioning: wow. no central heat and air. you have to pay extra for a window ac unit. we had to buy an extra ac unit because one doesnt even come close to cooling off a one bedroom 500 sq ft apt. oh yeah, and you have to pay extra for the privilidge of using it. and the one they provided us with broke (twice) and they take their time replacing it. one of their ac units leaked and collapsed part of our floor into the neigbors apt below us. this happened on a friday night so no one came out to assess the damage until monday, and they didnt begin work on it until the following week. yeah, brilliant. security/parking: there is very little off the street parking so the majority of the tenents park along a vary narrow street. my wifes car was broken into twice. someone was shot one night. the complex responded by having a security car patrol the area. that lasted for less then a month. management: these people know what they are doing, and the laws in virginia protect the complex more then the tenent so READ YOUR LEASE before you sign it. my wife is in the navy and was getting orders out of the state which caused us to break our lease, but the apt said we had to pay for a month when werent going to be living there. they provided us with a chopped copy of a law the president signed that deals with military moves and leases which, they claimed, proved we owed them. we took this to the military housing office and they told us this wasnt true. they cut and pasted the wording to make it appear that we owed them. classy.

moral of the story: its been almost 2 months since we left...and they still havent given us our deposit back.
