Apartment Review for Stuart Hall - Norfolk, VA

THESE APARTMENTS ARE HORRIBLE! Cavalier Lands is not a trustworthy group to do business with; I strongly advise against any of their properties if you have an option! The problems with this building: For one thing there is a rodent infestation. We’ve seen mice on several occasions, and heard things running in the walls. At one point my apartment smelled for weeks because of what I am pretty sure was a dead rodent in the walls. I’ve also seen roaches in the kitchen and entranceway. Another incident that was very disturbing was when we found rolled up dollar bills above the kitchen cupboards with cocaine residue! In addition to these problems the doors and locks stick, and when it rains hard we get a sizeable puddle in the living room, leaking in from the corner of the ceiling (and we’re not even on the top floor!). If you want any of these problems fixed, good luck; maintenance is reluctant to show up, and if they do it is without notice. Also, we can hear everything in the apartment above us, evening snoring, so if you have difficulty sleeping with lots of noise around you, you may be in trouble. As for Cavalier Lands, they are entirely unhelpful. They will (and have), exploit any fine print in your lease and attempt to take advantage of you. We gave notice that we only wanted to renew for 6 months (because we’ll have to leave the area for work) a month before our lease was due to be up, but they had locked us in for another year two months before! It was in the fine print, but they sent us no notice! They refuse to compromise at all because they’re desperate for tenants, and even said they work for the owners of the buildings, not the renters; they just want to milk us for all they can! I warn anyone looking for an apartment not to do business with Cavalier Lands, or at the very least not in this building, it’s really horrible! Keep looking!
